Baulkham Hills Town Centre, Baulkham Hills, NSW

Baulkham Hills is one of the key centres in the Greater Western Sydney region. The population in the region is growing and major housing developments are being constructed close to the town centre and transport hub. Together with the multi‑story residential towers, the Hills Shire Council aims to rejuvenate the town centre to provide greater accessibility, more amenities and make the area more attractive with landscaping, lighting, street furniture and new pavements.

Project Design Brief

Designers wanted the utility enclosures to have a minimal aesthetic impact on the new pavements. The Hills Shire Council also had Work Health and Safety (WHS) concerns regarding the weight of some of the access covers and lifting requirements needed to be adhered to. In some instances two-part covers replaced single-part covers to reduce the weight of each cover.

ACO's Solution

Urbanfil® recessed steel access covers

Benefits

  • The Urbanfil® cover and frame is manufactured from 2mm thick steel providing a discreet finish in the various pavement materials
  • Covers manufactured in two-part configurations reduced the lifting weight and met the Councils’ WHS requirements
  • Covers are weatherproof
