Beenleigh Town Centre, Beenleigh, QLD
Beenleigh is located half way between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and is connected by the Pacific Motorway and railway line. Beenleigh’s proximity to these major centres and transport links has been identified as a future Key Metropolitan Centre for the surrounding region.
Due to the growth, the council recently redeveloped the ‘infamous’ six-way roundabout in the centre of town into a pedestrian-friendly precinct. The town now has a network of pedestrian and cycle paths, public art, character buildings, open spaces for concerts, markets and local festivals. It is a place for social activity supporting economic growth.
Project Design Brief
The redevelopment required increased infrastructure for water, sewage, drainage and telecommunications. Designers wanted to ensure pavement aesthetics would not be compromised by the large number of load rated enclosure covers needed for the project. Landscape designers wanted to utilise various pavement finishes for different areas in the project and a cover that can be infilled to match the adjacent pavement was required.
