Salamanca Place, Hobart, TAS
Salamanca Place is located on Hobart’s waterfront and has large sandstone warehouses built in the 1800’s to service the Port of Hobart where sailors, whalers and workmen frequented. Today the precinct is a vibrant cultural area with bars, cafés, theatres, craft shops and art galleries occupying the historical buildings. The area also has a Saturday street market with busking musicians that are very popular with tourists and locals.
Project Design Brief
Hobart City Council upgraded the pavement in and around Salamanca Place and installed additional lighting, communications and CCTV infrastructure. Designers wanted the new utility enclosures for the electrical infrastructure to be unobtrusive on the new coloured concrete pavement.
